The most common and cost effective method of illuminating signs is by using internally illuminated sign cabinets.
They are available in a wide variety of sizes, can be made to custom shapes, they can be single or double sided, and are equally suited for external and internal situations.
They can be installed using a variety of methods; hung under a shopfront veranda, face fixed to a building, mounted above a veranda or roof, mounted on poles, or projecting from a building.
Traditionally, they have been illuminated by internal fluorescent tubes, but LED sourced illumination is now often a viable alternative, with similar initial costs, and lower ongoing costs, both from lower power usage and less maintenance requirements.
The faces are usually manufactured from translucent opal acrylic, which diffuses the light as it passes through. Larger faces are be manufactured from a flexible translucent material called “flexface”.
The graphics are applied using special translucent self adhesive films which are specially designed to "glow" when lit from behind. We can also print direct to the acrylic panel using our direct-to-substrate printer, enabling full image reproduction as well as text to be displayed on your sign.
Custom made cabinets can be manufactured where the lettering is cut through an opaque aluminium sign face using our computer controlled profile cutting equipment. When illuminated at night it gives an effect similar to individually formed channel letters, but without the higher manufacturing costs.
